Asher and Volunteerism: A close friendship.

Asher Agency employees pride themselves on being an active part of the community where they live and work. Despite their demanding work and family schedules, these A-team members also donate their time and talents to a variety of volunteer organizations.

• Asher CEO Tom Borne lends his leadership and fundraising skills as board chair of the Fort Wayne Community Schools Foundation and its keynote program, “b Instrumental,” which provides musical instruments and instruction to middle-schoolers.
• Our president, Kara Kelley, serves on the board of the historic Embassy Theatre and Community Harvest Food Bank.
• Larry Wardlaw serves on the boards of Fort Wayne Youtheatre and Friends of the Rivers, is a member of the Metro Human Relations Commission and is on the Junior Achievement BEL Awards committee.
• Anthony Juliano is board vice chair for Fort Wayne Trails, and on the Indiana Tech alumni board, Indiana Tech board of trustees and Manchester University employer advisory board.
• Jill Brown serves on the Ronald McDonald House Charities board and next year will become a United Way of Allen County Community Investment Volunteer.
• Dan Schroeter is on the marketing committee for the Fort Wayne Dance Collective and is board secretary for the Scotia Homeowners Association.
• Mike Fulton serves on the board of the West Virginia Society of Washington, D.C., promoting his home state in the nation’s capital. He also coaches and mentors dozens of young people on career opportunities.
• Jeanne Otis is a founder of Broken Pencil Improv, which not only performs but provides workshops and outreach with the Jesters Program at University of Saint Francis. Jeanne also helps promote the Zero Landfill Fort Wayne event to divert materials from the waste stream, and she is board vice president of the Sawmill Woods Homeowners Association.
• Tiffany Templeton is on the board of the Fort Wayne Advertising Federation and co-chair of its programs committee.
• Ben Reynolds is also a part of Broken Pencil Improv (when he’s not bonding with his new baby girl!)
• Faith Van Gilder is co-founder of the nonprofit AVOW, whose mission is to Advance Voices of Women in public life, the community square and civil conversations. She serves on the boards of Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, Friends of the Parks of Allen County, Creative Women of the World and Friends of Cedar Creek, an Indiana Scenic River in her neighborhood.
• Brandon Wolf is on the board and marketing committee for the Fort Wayne Ballet (two of his triplet daughters are ballerinas!); participates in the Big Brothers Big Sisters “Real Men Read” program; and with his wife leads sixth-grade Sunday school at his church.
• Brett Gauger is also part of the “Real Men Read” program and formerly was a Big Brother. He volunteers with Junior Achievement Northeast Indiana and Mastodon Alumni Association and he is an “Insider” blogger for Visit Fort Wayne, where he positively promotes the Fort Wayne community.
• Heather Peaytt is a global ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Beyond Type 1, as well as founder of “Diabetes. Don’t Sugarcoat it,” a program that empowers those with Type 1 diabetes to live happy, healthy, full lives. She also volunteers for Ronald McDonald House and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, both in Columbus, Ohio.
• Katie O’Muireagain is on the board of E.W. (Nontraditional Employment for Women) Workshop, a program for high school sophomore girls to be introduced to nontraditional careers and meet female leaders. She is a committee member for Art This Way, a public art program in downtown Fort Wayne, and on the Downtown Development Committee of Greater Fort Wayne Inc.
• Brandon Peat is an assistant den leader in his son’s Cub Scout troop.
• Emily Bartrom is a member of Junior League of Fort Wayne.
